2K EPOXY WEAR LAYER AND REPAIR FOR SCREEDS AND FLOORS
Transparent, liquid 2-component epoxy resin for impregnating, reinforcing, priming, levelling, repairing, casting, making containment basins liquid-tight, … . By adding Poxy Quartz, epoxy mortar is obtained.
Advantages
Pressure-resistant, wear-resistant and weather-resistant.
Exceeds the cohesion of concrete.
Mechanically and chemically loadable.
Use
Substrate
- Apply to a load-bearing, stable and clean substrate, free from loose parts, dust, oil, grease, rubber marks, … .
Mixing
- Remove the separating strip from the bag and mix the two components in the bag for 1 minute by kneading intensively.
- Process immediately.
Processing time
- At 20°C and 60% R.H. approximately 25 minutes.
- Higher temperatures shorten and lower temperatures extend the working time (pot life).
Applying
- Depending on the application with a rubber floor squeegee, a toothed rubber floor squeegee, a toothed trowel, an epoxy roller, … .
Waiting times
- Before applying a second layer, at +20°C, respect a waiting time of at least 12 hours and a maximum of 48 hours.
- If a longer waiting time is foreseen, sprinkle the surface with Poxy Quartz while the layer is still wet.
- The curing time shortens at higher temperatures and extends at lower temperatures.
Processing temperature
- Poxycon, environment and substrate +8°C and +30°C.
Curing
- At 20°C and 60% R.H.: walkable after 1 day, mechanically loadable after 3 days and fully loadable after 7 days.
- At lower temperatures this takes longer.
- During curing (approx. 24 hours at +20°C) protect Poxycon against moisture.
Some applications
- Impregnating and/or reinforcing: apply Poxycon diluted with at most 20% Poxy DC to the surface until saturation.
- Consumption depending on the substrate and the application: between 0,3 and 0,5 kg/m².
Priming
- Apply Poxycon to the floor until saturation.
- Consumption depending on the substrate and the application: between 0,3 and 0,5 kg/m².
Coloured wear layer
- Pour half of the mixed Poxycon into the bucket.
- Add 1 box of Poxy Color of choice and mix well until a homogeneous colour is obtained.
- Add the rest from the bag and mix well.
Open-pore Poxycon mortar
- First apply a base layer of Poxycon.
- Then add the Poxy Quartz to the well-mixed Poxycon in the bucket provided.
- Mix thoroughly (3 minutes mixing time).
- Mixing can be done with a slow-rotating mixer.
- Mixing ratio by weight: 1 part Poxycon and 10 parts Poxy Quartz.
- Process immediately.
- Consumption per mm layer thickness on 1 m²: approx. 0,2 kg Poxycon and 2,0 kg Poxy Quartz.
Liquid-tight Poxycon mortar
- First apply a base layer of Poxycon.
- Then add the Poxy Quartz to the well-mixed Poxycon in the bucket provided.
- Mix thoroughly (3 minutes mixing time).
- Mixing can be done with a slow-rotating mixer.
- Mixing ratio by weight: 1 part Poxycon and 5 parts Poxy Quartz.
- Process immediately.
- Consumption per mm layer thickness on 1m²: approx. 0,4 kg Poxycon and 2,0 kg Poxy Quartz.
Cleaning
- Clean just-used tools and any fresh contamination with Poxy DC.
Personal protective equipment
- Suitable nitrile gloves, safety goggles and face protection.
Note:
- Friction and mechanical load wear the surface.
- Staining is possible during impregnation due to the difference in suction power.
- The weather conditions and the UV rays can damage the colour stability.
- A base layer must be pore-filling. A second layer of Poxycon may therefore be necessary, or a more generous first layer.
