What is a lift cylinder?

Lift cylinders belong to the category of hydraulic cylinders, which consist of a housing containing a piston or plunger connected to a piston rod. By pumping in fluid at relatively low pressure on one side and discharging it on the other side, the rod moves back and forth. The force and speed at which this happens are determined by the oil pressure, cylinder capacity and piston area.
