What are load wheels?

Load wheels, heavy duty wheels or fixed castors are wheels for industrial vehicles that are specifically designed to carry heavy loads. They support heavy weights whilst maintaining firm contact with the underlying surface. Unlike castors, load wheels do not rotate around their vertical axis, i.e. they will only move in a straight line. Selecting the ideal load wheel

Materials for heavy duty wheels

Polyurethane load wheels

Polyurethane offers ‘the best of both worlds’: it combines the high load bearing capacity of nylon with the elasticity of rubber. Vulkollan is a patented type of polyurethane. Load wheels made of this type of polyurethane have low rolling resistance, they easily absorb shocks, are low noise and are wear and temperature resistant. Polyurethane is resistant to, amongst others, oil, grease and various acids. It is suitable for a variety of surfaces, from smooth and even to rough and uneven.

Rubber or solid rubber load wheels

Solid rubber has a high load capacity and elasticity, which makes it perfect for cushioning impacts and accommodating uneven surfaces. Similar to nylon, it is temperature resistant and largely chemical resistant. Rubber load wheels are ideal for rough, uneven surfaces.
