A lead-acid semi-traction battery is a type of battery that delivers a constant current over a long period of time. This kind of battery has a slightly lower capacity than a lead-acid battery. You will therefore find them mainly in smaller devices, such as electric motors, lighting and TVs.

• Check the water level regularly. 
• Only after charging should you top up with demineralised water.
• Keep your battery clean with a dry cloth.
  

How long will your lead-acid semi traction battery last?

Your battery capacity, expressed in amperes per hour (Ah), depends on how and how long you use the device that needs the energy. Watching television for a quarter of an hour requires less energy than switching your electric motor on and off all day long.

Bear in mind that you should never discharge your battery beyond 80%. A lead-acid semi-traction battery with a stated capacity of 1,000 Ah only has 800 Ah available in practice. That could be 8 hours at 100A or 2 hours at 400A. This will even be less than 2 hours due to the (heat) losses caused by high current.

• Never, NEVER discharge beyond 80%. 
• Use the right battery charger. 
• Do not disconnect your battery too early.
