The ultimate pocket-size tester for testing the performance and alternator voltage of batteries fitted in the vehicle, which every maintenance mechanic and technician should have!
Easy to use! Place the clamps on the battery or connect to an installed SAE battery cable, and then proceed as follows:
1.Check the battery's charge level. A battery with low voltage gives weak starting performance.
2.Start the engine. The OptiMate TEST captures and displays the lowest starting voltages (for 20 seconds).
3.While the engine is running, check the starting voltage of the alternator and the voltage regulator.
TIP: A low charging voltage results in weak battery performance. A charging voltage that is too high causes excessive gassing and ultimately leads to damage to the lead-acid battery. A charging voltage that is too high is FATAL for a LiFePO4 starter battery!
