SWELLING TAPE FOR WATER AND WIND SEALING

Expansion Tape is a compressed swelling tape for storm-resistant sealing with a polymer impregnation for long-lasting stability. The BG1 classification of Expansion Tape guarantees full wind and water tightness (driving rain) up to wind force 11 at a building height of 100 metres. At the same time, the tape is virtually completely vapour-open (Sd value 0.5). Thanks to its slow expansion, the tape can be applied straight from the roll. Expansion Tape can be painted or plastered, but is itself resistant to UV and weather influences.

Use

• Apply to a stable, dry and clean surface. Parallel joint sides result in an optimal clamping result.
• Use a tape clamp to prevent the roll from expanding.
• Remove the protective film and stick the tape into the joint without stretching the tape. Apply 2-3 mm from the outer edge of the joint for an aesthetic result. Apply from bottom to top and press down with a spatula.
• Apply in straight sections, without bends.
• To prevent moisture ingress:
  • at corners: first apply the horizontal tape, then the vertical piece.
  • at cross joints: first place the vertical strip over the full length. Then the horizontal pieces.
• In cold conditions, the expansion can be accelerated by heating with a hot-air blower (max 100°C). First test adhesion on surfaces based on PE, PP, silicones and bitumen.
