Electric stackers
What is an electric stacker?
An electric stacker is used to lift, move and stack goods and loads in a warehouse environment. They are compact in size and are designed to be used in narrow aisles and tight spaces.
The most important feature of an electric stacker is the mast. This consists of vertical lifting cylinders and forks at the front. The forks move up and down to lift and lower loads. The mast thereby does not tilt from front to back in order to position landings. In this way you can easily move materials in your warehouse.
What is the difference between an electric stacker and a forklift truck?
- An electric stacker generally has a more compact design. It is specifically designed for use in narrow aisles and confined spaces.
- A forklift truck has a greater lifting capacity than an electric stacker. A forklift truck lifts loads up to 50 tons, while an electric stacker lifts a maximum of about 2 tons.
- Electric stackers are manoeuvrable in tight spaces. They have a small turning circle and are easier to manoeuvre in small spaces than a forklift truck.
- Electric stackers are mainly used in warehouses and distribution centres. Forklift trucks, on the other hand, are more often used for more intensive work.
- A forklift truck is more suitable for working outdoors and indoors, while an electric stacker is mainly used
indoors.
How to choose the right stacker
Where will the electric stacker be used?
Electric stackers are mainly used in warehouses, distribution centres and other logistics environments. They provide an efficient solution for lifting, moving and stacking goods. Especially in situations where space is limited. Some specific advantages:
- Warehouses and distribution centres
- Retail trade
- Production environments
- Pharmaceutical industry
- Logistic service providers
Lighter stackers are also often transported on a truck for on-site loading and unloading without a tailgate or lifting platform.
How is an electric stacker powered?
Electric stackers from JVD Parts are always fully electrically powered. All the goods are brought to their destination with the help of a traction motor. On arrival, the lifting motor takes care of the raising and lowering of the forks. You operate both functions with the buttons on the tiller head.
What is the lifting height of an electric stacker?
The exact lifting height of an electric stacker depends on the model. Let us introduce you to the terminology used:
- Maximum lifting height: the maximum distance from the floor to the highest point of the load carrier in the fully extended position.
- Free lift: the lifting height to which the load carrier can move without changing the maximum height of the stacker. Ideal if the stacker is used in rooms with a low height.
- Initial lift: the maximum distance from the floor to the lower forks.
Types of lifting masts
|
Monomast |
Double mast or duplex |
Triple mast or triplex full free |
Construction |
· Fixed lifting mast · Consists of one column · Single lifting mast frame |
· Double telescopic mast · Extendable and retractable in fixed lifting mast frame |
· Triple telescopic mast · Extendable and retractable in fixed lifting mast frame |
Advantages |
· Unobstructed view of the load · The height of the mast hardly changes during use |
· Enables loading and unloading at great heights · Free lift of 100 mm |
· Best ratio between standard height and height of the fully extended mast · Completely free lift |
Load capacity of an electric stacker
A standard electric stacker has a load capacity of 1,000 to 2,000 kg.
Wheels of an electric stacker
- Polyurethane: suitable for regular use on hard and vulnerable surfaces.
- Thermoplastic polyurethane: suitable for rough and uneven surfaces.
- Nylon: suitable for loading and unloading foodstuffs and chemical products. Ideal for smooth and uneven surfaces. Not suitable for soft surfaces that are sensitive to high pressure (e.g. floor tiles)
- Rubber: suitable for environments where quick work is required.
Ride-on or walk-beside model
A ride-on model is often chosen as the stacker is technically driven. This model is, of course, larger and more robust. A walk-beside model is preferred by companies that deliver to customers and thereby have to transport a stacker with the delivery truck.
Maintenance of electric stackers
Your electric stacker must undergo major maintenance once a year or every 500 hours. Think of checking the wheels and electronics, changing the oil ... do you have your own technical service department? Then it’s easy to do this yourself.
Otherwise, you’re more than welcome to have the maintenance of your electric stackers carried out at JVD Parts.
Please note that you must have your electric pallet truck maintained in the first few years in order to maintain your warranty. It is also the smartest way to avoid major costs.
