BFS GmbH: pioneer in battery filling systems

The roots of BFS go back to the 1970s when founder Klaus H. Oschmann began developing installations for the plastics industry. From that experience, the idea for an automated battery filling system emerged. In 1981, he received a patent for an innovative solution for the automatic filling of battery cells. This laid the foundation for BFS – Batteriefüllungssysteme GmbH.

Since then, BFS has grown into a well-established name in the battery industry. Today, the company has production facilities in Germany and Malta, employing over 75 people. Annually, more than 11 million filling systems are produced, which are used globally in internal transport, logistics, automotive, and many other sectors.

BFS has shaped the market with successive generations of their iconic BFS plug. From the first automatic plug in 1982, which was the first to fully control the filling process, to the fourth generation, featuring low installation height and an extremely precise injection system.
